A brake lining for disc brakes has a backplate (2) which carries a friction lining (3) and is provided with two projections (4) which project in the circumferential direction and which serve to guide the brake lining (1) and to transmit the tangential forces which occur during braking. In order to achieve a relatively large offset of the projections (4) relative to the backplate (2), of the order of the thickness of the backplate or greater, the invention envisages that the projections (4) should merge into the backplate (2) by way of a simple bend (12) and should be arranged at an angle (11) to the plane of the backplate. <IMAGE>
