The invention relates to a cooker (1) having a cooktop platform (2) possessing at least one cooking zone (3), having at least one first rotary switch (4 to 7) for controlling the at least one cooking zone (3), having a cooker switch box (10) and having a supplementary circuit (11) possessing at least one second rotary switch (10 to 15), the first rotary switch (4 to 7) projecting by way of a first connecting element, preferably an axle journal (16 to 19), into the front region of the cooker switch box (10) and being connected to the second rotary switch (12 to 15), so that the supplementary circuit (11) converts the respective switch position of the first rotary switch (4 to 7) into an independent signal and, if appropriate, into a display value displayed on the cooktop platform (2). In order to simplify the installation of the supplementary circuit, provision is made according to the invention for the supplementary circuit (11) to be locally separated from the at least one first rotary switch (4 to 7), to be preferably arranged in the rear region of the cooker switch box (10), and to be constructed as a separate adapter, and for a torque-transmitting means (41 to 44) to be provided, for connection of the first rotary switch (4 to 7) and the second rotary switch (12 to 15). <IMAGE>
