Casting mould for the production of castings

The invention relates to a casting mould for the production of castings, comprising a frame (28) with, mounted on it, a permanent mould (1a, 1b) which is split lengthwise and surrounds a mould cavity, the parts (2, 3) of the permanent mould being movable in the transverse direction by means of pressure-operated mechanisms for the purpose of opening and closure. At one end, the casting mould has a gate (97) for the supply of the metal melt. The casting mould furthermore contains a number of core blocks (6, 7, 8) assigned to the permanent mould (1a, 1b). At one end, the permanent mould (1a, 1b) is equipped with a distributor block (94) for the metal melt, the gate (97) being routed via the distributor block (94) in such a way that the metal melt is split up and fed to separate runners (9) in a lower core block (6). This makes possible particularly rapid and uniform inflow and optimum distribution of the metal melt, making it possible to cast large and complex castings such as the engine blocks of internal combustion engines satisfactorily by gravity casting (Fig. 5).
