DETERGENT COMPOSITIONS

A particulate detergent composition of high bulk density contains a surfactant system consisting essentially of primary alcohol sulphate and ethoxylated nonionic surfactant in a ratio of 0.68:1 - 2.5:1. The composition also contains zeolite builder and optionally may also contain a water-soluble organic builder such as sodium citrate. The composition shows better delivery into the wash and solubility characteristics than similar compositions having a lower ratio of primary alcohol sulphate to nonionic surfactant; and lower zeolite levels and more highly ethoxylated nonionic surfactant may be used without loss of detergency.
