PURPOSE: To provide a system and a method for operating a computer so as to update a data base. CONSTITUTION: After deciding an applicable constraint by inspecting an entry by a user for preparing, eliminating or changing a substance instance, the constraint is activated and placed inside a pool. Thereafter, an inspection order is decided for the activated constraints. After the constraint of a first order is coded by using data base calling when it is required in order to supply data to a logic sentence, the coded constraint is inspected. When the constraint is violated, an error signal is outputted and a processing is returned to the step of activating the constraint for the processing of corrected user data. In the case that it is not violated, after judging whether or not the constraint to be inspected remains, the step for activating it is returned or exitting from the processing is performed.
