PURPOSE:To generate a light pulse train which has small output variation and high wavelength precision by providing with an optical loop circuit wherein a light signal circulates and arranging a means which delays the light signal right in front of an optical amplifying means. CONSTITUTION:In the optical loop circuit wherein the light signal circulates, an optical multiplexer 3 which injects the light signal to the optical loop circuit from outside, an optical switch 4 which periodically interrupts the optical path of this optical loop circuit, and an optical branching element 5 which takes a light output out of the optical loop circuit to the outside are arranged. Further, the optical delay line 6 formed of an optical fiber which delays the light signal is arranged right in front of the optical amplifier 7. Consequently, the intensity of light inputted to the optical delay line 6 can be set to a minimum value, so the nonlinear effect of the optical delay line 6 formed of the optical fiber can be minimized. Further, frequency characteristics of respective elements constituting the optical loop circuit can be compensated by controlling output pulse light intensity to a constant value. |
