A process is disclosed for spray painting the inner and/or outer surfaces of rotating cylindrical objects (B1, B2), in particular with a fan-shaped spraying jet (A). The overspray produced while painting an object (B1) is deposited on another object (B2) to be painted next. The process is particularly suitable for painting the inside of cans. The cans are inclined in such a way with respect to each other, while in contact with the fan-shaped spraying jet, that their open ends overlap without touching each other.
