PURPOSE:To improve the strength and rigidity of a shaft supporting section by making a functional part fitted to a shaft at the middle section of a case hold another shaft in a transmission wherein at least one of two shafts which transmit motive power to each other is supported at the end section and the intermediate section of the case. CONSTITUTION:A high/low speed switching gear 1 is contained in a case 11. One of main gears 3 is supported at the front end section 11a of the case 11 by a bearing 15, and the other gear is supported at a main shaft 5 by a bearing 17. A counter gear 7 which is arranged in parallel width the main gears 3 and the main shaft 5 has a hollow section wherein the internal diameter section is supported at a fixed shaft 39 by bearings 37a and 37b. An adapter case 41 is fixed to the intermediate section 11b of the case 11, which holds the fixed shaft 39, to prevent the bearing 19 of the main shaft 5. In this case, the extended section 41a of the adapter case 41 is fitted to the fixed shaft 39, constituting the supporting section of the fixed shaft 39.
