PURPOSE:To obtain the picture reader in which optimum color tone reproduction and gradation expression are attained for each transparent original film. CONSTITUTION:The reader is provided with a means 11 lighting a transparent original 12 by three lighting light sources in three colors of cyan, green or magenta and blue or yellow, a means 13 separating the transmitted light for each color and using a CCD line sensor so as to apply photoelectric conversion to a transmitting light, a means 15 converting a transmitting light level subject to photoelectric conversion into digital data by an A/D converter to normalize each of color data from 0 to a maximum level within a density reproduction range of a read picture. Moreover, the data are subject to gradation correction in matching with a gradation change characteristic of the color data based on a reference gray scale on a transparent original of the same kind of the read picture. |
