A plastisol composition based on styrol copolymers, plasticizers and inorganic fillers contains copolymers which may be produced by emulsion polymerization as styrol copolymers, which contain (a) styrol, .alpha.-methyl-styrol and/or p-methyl-styrol and (b) 3 to 20 % by weight (with respect to the copolymer) of methacrylic acid, acrylic acid and/or itaconic acid, and whose molecular weight is higher than 1 millon, at least in considerable parts of the copolymer. In order to increase wear resistance, other cross-linking comonomers may be polymerised in the copolymer and/or other cross-linking or softening reactive compounds may be added to the plastisol composition. These plastisols are useful in the automobile industry as undersealing agents, as adhesives for the inside lining of the bonnet, as door sill protective compound, as metal adhesives or as spot welding paste, and in the packaging industry as sealing compound for container lids, as seam sealing substances or as adhesives for crimped edges of cans, and also as coating material for textiles, carpets or floor coverings.
