摘要 In an atomic absorption spectrometer for measuring mercury concentrations the dynamic measurement range is considerably increased by providing a radiation source (2) which produces the emission lines 253.7 nm and 184.9 nm at the same time, that said radiation simultaneously impinges through the test sample (3) on two electro-optical transducers (9, 10) of which the one transducer is substantially sensitive to the emission line 253.7 nm and the other one to the emission line 184.9 nm. Atotal measurement range covering about four orders of magnitude can he implemented thereby. The transducer detecting the 184.9 nm line has a Csl photocathode and is used over a lower range of extinction values/mercury concentrations; the other transducer has a CsTe photocathode and is used over a higher range. <IMAGE>
