The invention teaches a method for the production of flat polarising interference-layer components and specifies flat components produced in this way. By folding coated planar substrates and by the simultaneous formation of edges, production according to the invention avoids the necessity of coating complicated formed bodies (mouldings). At the same time, components having very good optical properties are produced, in particular when transmission-impeding (transmission-restraining) arrangements are used at the edges.
