<p>In high-rise buildings, so that smoke flaps can be opened at suitable points for smoke escape in the event of fire, the flap-activating release device has a current transmitter providing ignition for one or more primer capsules sited in a release current circuit. Current is provided by a manually operated dynamo machine. This can incorporate a cable pull which turns a rotor shaft when drawn down, with a spring drawn up, and it can be in the form of an alternating current generator, followed by a rectifier connection. It is independent of the public power network, and needs no emergency batteries or accumulators.</p> |
