The orthopaedic stocking comprises a diagonally plaited braid of bands which are fastened at their ends to an annular band (32) and to a solid body (25) with a hook (27) at the lower end for suspending weights (G1). The width of these bands is larger than their distance apart, and they have an essentially constant inner diameter corresponding to the diameter of the human thigh, and a length corresponding to the length of the thigh. The bands are made of leather for generation of tensile forces on the thigh and the hip for femoral extension (Fig. 2c). <IMAGE>
