By bearing premature babies and unwell neonates in an elastic suspension device which surrounds the infant at the sides, bedding them on a horizontal platform in an outstretched position is superfluous. It is intended to help children in future, provided their health permits this, to assume a posture resembling that under normal pregnancy conditions. In parallel, by playing back a quiet heart sound of the mother on an endless cassette and by introducing the voices of family members, a further contribution is made to provide the infants with conditions that resemble the natural conditions as closely as possible, with the result that the psyche of the infants also develops harmonically and development is thus enhanced.
