The invention relates to a gas boiler, comprising a water-carrying housing (1) in which a combustion chamber (3), fitted with burner (2) and of cylindrical cross-section, is arranged and between the burner and a waste gas-collecting chamber (4) a residual heat exchanger (NWT), through which the heat-exchanger media can flow, having inflow and outflow connections for the medium to be heated is arranged. To solve the object of providing, for a construction which is favourable in terms of manufacture, an assignment, which is favourable in terms of the heat transfer, of the elements involved, namely a burner of special type, combustion-chamber walls and a residual heat exchanger likewise of special type, provision is made according to the invention for the combustion-chamber wall (5) to be provided, between the burner (2) constructed as radiant burner with substantially hemispherically curved burner surface (F) and the residual heat exchanger (NWT) constructed in the form of a planar spiral, with an indentation (6) running all the way around, the smallest inside diameter (D) of which corresponds substantially to the diameter (D1) of the hemispherical burner (2) and the upper curvature starting-point (7) lies substantially in a plane (E) which perpendicularly intersects the combustion-chamber axis (A) and is tangential to the curvature maximum (M) of the burner surface (F). <IMAGE>
