The device for comminuting bulk material is composed in known fashion of a comminuting rotor 2 which is rotatably mounted in the lower region of a spacious delivery shaft 1 which tapers downwards owing to an inclined feeding chute 10, the said rotor 2 being equipped with comminuting tools 4, the working edges of which move on a common circular trajectory 5 during rotation. According to the invention, the feeding chute 10 which comes into tangential contact with the circular trajectory 5 forms, together with the circular trajectory 5 a drawing-in reel 14, which is periodically penetrated by at least one pushing and lifting element 15 which is slid along the feeding chute 10 and projects into the feeding shaft 1. The pushing and lifting element 15 advantageously takes the form of a nose, its pushing flank 19 being at right angles to the feeding chute 10 and its lifting flank 20 forming an acute angle with the latter. <IMAGE>
