A fitting (16), via which two slat ends are connectable both vertically resiliently and tiltably to a bed base longitudinal member (10), has a cap part (18) which is injection-moulded from rubber-elastic material and is hung directly on a fastening part (46) via a helical spring (44) under tension. The fastening part (46) bears stop walls (64, 66, 70) which come into contact with the underside of the cap part (18) after a preset travel of the latter and then bring about, together with the cap part (18), an end-of-travel resilience, the strength of which increases to a progressively pronounced extent with increasing remaining travel of the spring. Even with this remaining-travel resilience, a tiltability of the cap part (18) is ensured by the geometry of the stop walls (64, 66, 70) and the cap part (18). <IMAGE>
