PURPOSE:To shorten a digit matching time by eliminating the need for complicated bit shifting operation without varying conventional data length. CONSTITUTION:Seven high-order bytes represent a mantissa part and one low- order byte represents a sign and an exponent part. The sign of numeric data is provided as the most significant digit bit in one byte of the lowest order and the exponent part is provided as other seven bits. One bit among the seven bits of the exponent part represents the sign of the exponent part and other six bits represent the exponent. A decimal point is provided on the left side of the most significant digit bit of the mantissa part. |
