A magnetic head having a pair of magnetic core halves, at least one of which is formed of a magnetic oxide material portion, a winding groove and a magnetic metal thin film formed on a surface having the winding groove of the magnetic oxide material portion, which are abutted so that a magnetic gap is formed on an abutment surface of the magnetic metal thin film, wherein an entire surface of the winding groove is slanted with angles of 0 DEG to 60 DEG with respect to gap surfaces constituting the magnetic gap.
