<p>A process for an efficient and safe recovering of polystyrene from polystyrene resin products (30) using a polystyrene-dissolving agent (20) which is harmless and superior in the dissolving ability and does not cause environmental pollution, which comprises holding the polystyrene resin product (30) under contact with the polystyrene-dissolving agent (20) to dissolve polystyrene therefrom, said dissolving agent (20) containing 100-50 % by weight of terpene and, if necessary, 0-50 % by weight of surfactant, washing out the surfactant and any contaminants from the dissolution liquor containing the polystyrene-dissolving agent (20) and the dissolved polystyrene by mixing with water (21) and subjecting, then, the resultant surfactant-free polystyrene solution to distillation to separate the polystyrene-dissolving agent (20) and the polystyrene.</p> |
