发明名称 PHYSICAL QUANTITY DETECTOR
摘要 PURPOSE:To allow high speed detection of physical quantity over a wide region using a detector having simple constitution by providing an optical fiber, an optical fiber pressure-sensitive section, and a light receiving means. CONSTITUTION:Light emitted from a light source 1 passes through a single mode optical fiber 2 and arrives at an optical fiber 2 pressure detecting section 3 mounted on an engine gasket 20. The optical fiber 2 is embedded directly in the gasket 20. The birefringence fiber 3 is subjected to the variation of refractive index corresponding to the outer pressure. Consequently, the light propagating through the optical fiber 2 is subjected to external radiation loss and the intensity thereof varies. The intensity of the light passed through a pressure- sensitive part is detected by a photodiode 5 which delivers a detection signal 9 to a sensor signal processor 12a. The processor 12a processes the signal 9 along with a signal 10a from a crank angle sensor, a reference signal 10b from a temperature sensor, and a reference signal 10c from an air flow sensor, an atmospheric pressure sensor, etc., and delivers an output signal 11a to an engine control unit 12b.
