PURPOSE:To prevent the influence of external light and to enhance the contrast ratio of a transmission image to a reflected image by arranging a louver layer on the front surface of a transmission image forming means or a reflected image forming means. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal display element 1 as the transmission image forming means and a three-dimensional object 2 as the reflected image forming means are arranged in an L-shaped state. A half mirror 3 is arranged as a synthesizing means at the angle of 45 degrees in order to synthesize the image of the liquid crystal display element 1 and the three-dimensional object 3; furthermore, the louver layer 8 is arranged on the front surface of the three- dimensional object 2. The louver layer 8 is an optical control member, absorbs oblique light having an angle component, and transmits the light made nearly perpendicularly incident on the louver layer 8. In this case, since the external light is absorbed by the louver layer 8, the three-dimensional object 2 is not illuminated, so that the reflected image is not formed and an observer 4 does not observe the reflected image. The light reaching the observer 4 is absorbed by the louver layer 8 even in the case the light 7 illuminating the three- dimensional object 2 is turned on and the reflected image is formed. |
