<p>PURPOSE:To provide a booster circuit that boosts a power-supply voltage in a wide range together with small power consumption and noises caused by power supply, by controlling amplitude of a clock signal according to a level of power-supply voltage, and applying the clock signal to an electrode of a boosting capacitive element. CONSTITUTION:A booster circuit comprises each base booster circuit 10 made up of a first boosting capacitor C1 with a first MOS transistor T1 and a second boosting capacitor C2 with a second MOS transistor T2 in series. Then, clock amplitude control circuits 11 and 12 supply the boosting capacitors C1 and C2 with each output clock signal phi1' or phi2' having amplitude controlled according to the amplitude of each input clock signal phi1 or phi2 and a level of power- supply voltage so that a power voltage VCC is boosted sequentially in synchronization with the clock signal phi1' or phi2', and a high voltage output VPP is generated. Consequently, a boosting factor per step in the booster base circuit 10 is limited so that excessive boosting is prevented and unnecessary power consumption is also prevented.</p> |
