<p>PURPOSE:To provide a position detecting device which controls a desired output based on the positions of plural peculiar points and can be applied in various fields of application by detecting with discrimination those peculiar points (detecting subjects) included in a fetched image. CONSTITUTION:A performer 4 waves the pen lights 20A and 20B (peculiar points) at the front of a position detecting device 2 which includes an image pickup part. The image of the performer 4 is fetched by the device 2 which detects with discrimination the positions of both pen lights (lamp positions of tips of pen lights), i.e., the peculiar points out of the fetched image. Then the sounds of a relevant musical instrument is produced when the detected position of each peculiar point enters a prescribed musical instrument operating area, e.g. the cymbal operating position of a drum set in a virtual musical instrument model world. Then the device 2 synthesizes the image of the virtual musical instrument model world with the real image of the performer 4 and shows this synthetic image on a display 6.</p> |
