PURPOSE:To perform a more accurate hidden-surface canceling process by using a common part as the low-order bits of a mantissa part when a body is displayed on a screen. CONSTITUTION:A new object 102 is supplied from a binary value generating device to a comparator 101. The binary value 102 of the new object is composed of the common part used selectively as an exponent width setting part, an exponent part, the mantissa part, or a part of the exponent part or mantissa part. In this case, two depth components 2a and 2b are given in the form of the binary value 102 of the new object and the binary values 103 of two buffers. The exponent parts, mantissa parts and common parts of 2a and 2b are compared by an exponent comparator 104, a mantissa comparator 105, and a common comparator 106 respectively and outputted to a comparing decision unit 107 as output values (a), (b), and (c) so that their large/small relations can be discriminated. Further, the exponent width setting bits of 2a and 2b are outputted as d0 and d1 directly to the comparing decision unit 107. |
