<p>An integrated bi-directional MMDS/MDS converter (100) connected to an antenna (80) for receiving MMDS programming (30) and for receiving information/data signals (130) from a set top converter (120) for retransmission of these signals (130) back to a central location (70). The integrated bi-directional converter (100) has a down converter (600) connected to the diplexer (400) for down converting conventional programming signals (30) into a group of converted programming signals (220) in the 222 to 408 MHz range and has an up converter (700) for up converting data/information signals (222) in the 116 to 128 MHz range from the communication line into MDS signals (130) and delivering them into the diplexer (400). The diplexer (400) applies the outgoing MDS data signals (130) to the feed of the antenna (80) for transmission. The integrated bi-directional MMDS/MDS converter (100) of the present invention uses a common local oscillator (420) for driving both the down converter (600) and the up converter (700).</p> |
