Large volume flow warm not hot air hairdryers are disclosed. They have a casing with a motor and fan, and an outwardly-divergent outlet passage. In one embodiment the passage may have a pivotable baffle (86) mounted in it to control the flow of the issuing air stream. In one of its limit positions (Figure 6), the pivotable baffle (86) effectively closes a throat of the drier to cause virtually all the air leaving the drier to issue from the narrower end of the baffle as a fast narrow stream. In its other limit position, the baffle guides the outgoing airstream into slow-moving warm airstream at a flow rate of 60-90 litres per section through the housing, and which at a distance of 40-46 cm from the dryer has a speed of 220 to 360 cm/second and a temperature of 45-60 DEG C.
