TREATMENT OF PHENOL CONTAINING WASTE WATER

PURPOSE:To dispense with an extractant and diluting water and to achieve the simplification of constitutional machinery and the reduction of operation cost by supplying waste water obtained by evaporating and condensing phenol containing waste water under reduced pressure to a separator equipped with a pervaporation membrane and separating phenol from the transmitted soln. on a reduced pressure side. CONSTITUTION:A pervaporation membrane 1 is set to the cell 2 of a flange base and phenol-containing waste water subjected to reduced pressure treatment is supplied to the glass container 3 on the surface of the membrane 1 to be stirred by a magnetic stirrer 4. This supplied waste water is always adjusted to 50 deg.C by a glass heater 5 and a heater controller 6. The vacuum degree on the transmission side of the rear surface of the membrane 1 is held to 1 Torr by a vacuum pump 7 through a solenoid valve 8 and a sensor 9 and the transmitted water of the membrane 1 is solidified by ethylene glycol 11 cooled to -10--30 deg.C by a cooler 10 to be collected in containers 12,13. When the compsn. of the transmitted soln. is measured by a gas chromatograph or an absorptiometer, the recovery and treatment of phenol can be efficiently performed although the phenol concn. of the supplied water must be considered.
