PURPOSE: To produce a fastening appratus using an absorbable or biode gradable mechanical coupler for anastomosing tubular organs like bowel so as to form a matching juncture between the far and near halves of the tubular organ without conducting a purse-string suture. CONSTITUTION: An anastomotic fastener applier is used in a combination of introducing means 40, 50 of which material can be softened or is soluble in bowel, etc., within approx. 24h, and absorbable fasteners 20, 30 serving as a compressing means. The fasteners 20, 30 include respective center rings 22, 32 for the positioning of the applier, to which ring a sharply pointed leg or gear tooth 24 is equipped for piercing at least one structure of the fastener 20. The gear tooth 24 is formed in a cleavage structure to effect a spring function. The fastener 30 cooperating with the fastener 20 has multiple-slot or receiver 34 in correspondence to the gear tooth 24. The tissue to be anastomosed e.g. bowel is held at respective outer peripheries of the opposite ends of the fasteners 20, 30. |
