PURPOSE: To provide a spring collar which keeps the satisfactory clamping force in every use environment, that is, energy accumulated during installation reaches a satisfactory high level without the fear of locally exceeding the elastic limit of metal. CONSTITUTION: This collar is formed by a rolled up metal strip 1, the strip 1 has both end parts 1a, 1b of a width substantially equal to half the width of the strip 1, and both end parts are closely disposed to each other. The collar is provided with tabs 2, 3 which are directed radially outwardly from the collar to form abutments for engaging a pliers-like tool, the strip 1 having a cross-section that constitutes a flattened V-shape such that the central region of the inside surface of the collar has a diameter smaller than that of the other regions. In this collar, the angle between the two branches of the V-shape lies in the region 120 deg. to 165 deg., and the ratio between the thickness of the strip and the length of each of its branches lies in the range 0.2 to 0.5. |
