The drop hammer ram is guided between guideway liners (9) which are held against the side members (3) of the machine frame by tension bolts (12). Concentric with the tension bolts are annular pistons (14) which on one side bear against the side member (3), and on the other side fit into cylinders in the form of circular recesses machined in the back of the lines (9). Between the base of the recess (13) and the piston (14) is a small hydraulic space which can be filled or emptied through a releasable non-return valve. The play in the guideways is adjusted by filling the hydraulic space between the recess (13) and piston (14) against the pre-tension of the tension bolt (12). USE/ADVANTAGE - Precise adjustment of play can be achieved with rigid support of guideway liners for drop hammer.
