METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DECODING PICTURE CODE

PURPOSE:To obtain a coding method in which deterioration in picture quality is suppressed even when compression/expansion is repeated in the compression coding of a picture employing orthogonal transformation such as discrete cosine transformation. CONSTITUTION:A block position detection circuit 30 detects a block position at preceding coding, A block division circuit 52 divides blocks to be coincident with the detected block position, and coding circuits 10, 53 are used to execute coding to each of central and peripheral blocks. A code generating circuit 54 generates a code representing block position information and adds the code to a code generated by the coding circuits 10, 53 to provide an output to a multiplexer 55.
