PURPOSE:To provide the process for production of the liquid crystal display device which prevents the display defect by dust, the destruction of the elements on substrates and shorting of electrodes by static electricity and the generation of a line disconnection to the generation of the dust and static electricity in an orientation treatment stage, thereby eliminating the spot defects and line defects of the display device and further, lessening the disturbance in the orientation of liquid crystal molecules by the ruggdedness of the substrates. CONSTITUTION:This process for production has a stage for forming the driving elements 14, pixel electrodes 15 connected to the driving elements 14 and electrode lines connected to the driving elements 14 on the surface of the first substrate 12, a stage for forming a common electrode 17 on the surface of the second substrate 13, a stage for forming an oriented film 18 on the common electrode 17 of the second substrate 13 and subjecting this film to the orientation treatment, a stage for arranging the first substrate 12 and the second substrate 13 opposite to each other apart a prescribed spacing maintained therebetween and a stage for injecting liquid of an isotropic state of a ferroelectric liquid crystal material 11 heated to the phase transition temp. or above between both substrates and a stage for causing phase transition from the isotropic phase to the liquid crystal state while slowing cooling this liquid. |
