In a body sstructure (14) for the load surface (10) of a vehicle having at least one pair of guide rails (22) which are provided approximately horizontally on side walls (12) at a mean spacing (Hl) relative to the load surface (10) and to which end connecting members of a support tube or the like support member (20) which in the operative position extends between the guide rails can be connected, the support member (20), at a spacing (n) from a guide rail (22), is connected to an elongate guide strut (42) by a hinge (44) and at the other end the guide strut (42) is connected by means of a further hinge (46) to the guide rail (22), wherein the support member can be pivoted about its hinge (44) and the guide strut (42) about the further hinge (47) into its rest position. The further hinge is to be fixed to a profile member of C-shaped cross-section which partially embraces the guide rail (22) and which is provided fixably thereon.
