A device (3) for protection against overcurrents, such as short circuits or overloads, for a regulator (2) fed by a rectifier (1) linked to an alternating voltage source (TA) comprises a switch (S) in the form of a field-effect transistor and turn-on and turn-off circuits controlling the switch. The turn-on circuit (35) controls the turning-on of the switch when the rectifier (1) is feeding the regulator (2).
