<p>The ornamental display assembly according to this invention incorporates a pair of coaxial support members (30, 36) and has a decorative element (34, 38) mounted on each support member (30, 36). A cam drive system (18) provides one support member (36) with reciprocating motion while providing the other support member (30) with rotating motion. The drive system (18) may include an eccentrically mounted circular cam (26) in frictional contact with a drive disc (32) associated with the ends of the support members (30, 36), or may include a centrally mounted cam member (52) having an offset cam stub (54) which engages a slide member (62) to provide the reciprocating motion and which may be either in frictional contact with a drive disc (56') to supply the rotating motion, or may be drivingly connected to the drive disc (56) via interengaging gear teeth (60). In each case, the sole power supply comes from the output shaft (24) of a power source, such as a music box mechanism (16).</p> |
