The intention, in a fuel tank for vehicles with a pipe leading out of the tank, is to reliably prevent fuel from flowing out of the tank through the pipe connection opening in the event of the pipe being torn off due to an accident. For this purpose the pipe connection opening of the tank wall is provided with a valve which, in the event of a deformation of the pipe leading to fracture, automatically closes the opening by means of an actuating element activated by the deformed pipe. In the case of a pipe running in a straight line the actuating element may be a tensioned cable.
