<p>PURPOSE:To continuously produce a Cr or Cr alloy ingot having uniform structure with low electric power unit requirement by applying induction slag melting to Cr and Cr-base alloy material and specific amounts of slag and performing drawing at specific velocity. CONSTITUTION:A bottomless melting crucible 9 is disposed in an induction slag melting furnace 16 having Ar-gas atmosphere. From the top of the crucible 9, a granular slag material 2 of about 3-13mm is supplied together with a rod- shaped Cr or Cr-base alloy material 1. Induction melting is applied to these materials 1, 2 by means of a high-frequency coil 7 to form a molten metal 3 and a molten slag 6. Subsequently, the molten metal 3 is cooled in a cooling segment, and the resulting solidified metal 10 is rotatingly drawn via a drawing rod 11 and a stub 15. In this continuous melting and drawing equipment 17, the Cr or Cr-base alloy material containing >=2wt.% slag is used and drawn at a rate of (100 to 300)mm/hr.</p> |
