PURPOSE: To minimize the cost, energy and required area, and improve the quality of sorting or purification. CONSTITUTION: In order to purify a food of powder/grain form such as grain, rough rice, soybean, sunflower seed, or coffee bean, one optical classifying device 24 capable of sorting it by color and/or size and/or shape is used after a preliminary washing 6, and each grain is classified to grain grades determined by a parameter. As occasion demands, each grain is transmitted from a carrier for transporting powder/grain to housing ranges 43, 44, 45 for respective grain grades to select and remove fruits and inferior grains from products in order to purity the powder/grain, and the products are classified to the grade as occasion demands.
