PURPOSE:To maintain the performance of an ion selective electrode for a long period by constituting the electrode in a metal/metallic salt in which a conductive layer composed of an internal solid electrode metal is brought into contact with a layer of the insoluble salt of the metal. CONSTITUTION:A flow passage 5 through which a bio-liquid to be measured is made to flow is provided in an electrode container 1 and part of the wall surface of the passage 5 is opened. An internal solid electrode 3 having a metal/ metallic salt structure and ion sensitive film 4 formed on a substrate composed of a hydrophobic high polymer substance are put upon another and the laminated body is fitted to the opening so that the film 4 can be brought into contact with the bio-liquid. The solid electrode 3 is constituted of an internal electrode which has the metal/metallic salt structure in which a conductive layer is brought into contact with a layer composed of the insoluble salt of the metal and the anion of the insoluble salt is composed of tetraphenil borate or tetraalkyl borate ions or their derivatives. In addition, the film 4 must be insoluble in water, because the film 4 must be able to select specific ions and sample solutions are aqueous solutions, but no hydrophilic nor hydrophobic properties are required for the film 4. |
