<p>PURPOSE:To provide the liquid crystal display device which can freely set the display state without degradation of the picture quality and has a small circuit scale. CONSTITUTION:Plural display states different in brightness are preliminarily set. Pulse width data indicating the correspondence between the gradient and the pulse width is generated and is stored in a ROM 109 with respect to each display state. At the time of display on a liquid crystal panel, the display state is set by a display state setting means consisting of a volume 112 and an A/D converter 111. The A/D converter sets an upper address of the ROM and a counter 107 sets a lover address to read out the pulse width data corresponding to the display state. A signal electrode driving circuit 113 subjects picture data sent from a display controller to pulse width modulation in accordance with pulse width data and outputs this data to a TFD panel 117.</p> |
