PURPOSE:To obtain a wavelength dispersion compensating equipment with high performance and also with superior containing property (minituarization). CONSTITUTION:One end of a wavelength dispersion compensating fiber 2 having wavelength dispersion with a polarity which is opposite to the wavelength dispersion of a transmission optical fiber is connected to an optical circulator 1 having three, at least, terminals as an input/output means from/to an external part. Then, the other end is adopted as a whole reflection end 3 so as to execute configuration in such a way that transmitted light is propagated twice in the wavelength dispersion compensating optical fiber 2.
