A low-profile plug connector arrangement having a plug-like coaxial cable plug connector and a complementary holder for surface mounting on a substrate, such as a printed circuit board for example, comprises a dielectric housing (12) which is defined by a plurality of side walls (36, 38, 40) positioned vertically on a base (18). Means are provided for surface mounting of the base (18) on the substrate. An earthing contact clip (14) is held in the base (18) and a signal contact pin (16) is formed integrally in the base (18) and is exposed in the interior of the housing (12). A stamped and formed or drawn metal casing (24) holds a dielectric insert (26) in which a metal contact (30) (which is formed by stamping and forming) is fitted. The contact (30) has a pair of arms (74) for connection to the contact pin (16), and the casing (24) and the dielectric insert (26) contain openings, which are aligned with one another, in order to make it possible to connect the metal contact (30) to the contact pin (16). A coaxial cable is fastened on the metal contact (30) by means of the casing (24).
