To determine water-soluble strong acids in air, the quantity of air to be analysed is passed over an absorption solution to absorb the acids and then separated again. According to the invention, the solution containing the acids and the carbon dioxide which interferes with the analysis is brought into contact with air freed from carbon dioxide in a second step, with the result that it is freed from CO2 without the dissolved acids being removed at the same time. The solution containing the dissolved acids is then fed to a measuring cell comprising a combination pH measuring cell having a meter connected to its output. In the cell, the acidity of the solution and, consequently, the concentration of strong acids are determined and indicated. An apparatus for carrying out the method according to the invention has also been developed. ……
