PURPOSE:To provide a new compound useful as a traction drive fluid having high traction coefficient, exhibiting constantly stable high power transmission performance and enabling the reduction of the size and weight and the prolongation of the life of a traction drive apparatus. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I (R<1> to R<8> are methyl or cyclohexyl; the content of cyclohexyl is 20-100% of the total substituent and at least one of R<1> to R<6> is cyclohexyl; n is 0-3), e.g. 1,1,3-tricyclohexyl-1,3,3- trimethyldisiloxane. The compound can be produced e.g. by hydrogenating a methylphenylsilicone of formula II (R<9> to R<16> are methyl or phenyl; the content of phenyl is 20-75% of the total substituent and at least one of R<9> to R<14> is phenyl; n is 0-2) in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst containing nickel, etc., in a solvent such as n-heptane.
