PURPOSE:To obtain the speech encoding method which obtains a reproduced speech of good quality even with a small number of encoded bits. CONSTITUTION:In the speech encoding method which encodes frequency spectrum information on a speech, a means which obtains the fundamental frequency (pitch) of the speech is provided and decides whether or not respective frequency components are voiced or voiceless, at every frame, and, when the result is encoded, a monotonoues increase function F(omega) of the fundamental frequency (pitch) of the speech is used to perform encoding components up to F(omega) as voiced components and components above it as voiceless components. |
