PURPOSE:To double the number of pixels of the display device. CONSTITUTION:The display device is constituted by arranging a light source 1 such as a lamp, a reflecting plate 2 which converges light on one side, a condenser lens 3 on the opposite side, a liquid crystal panel 5 which contains three colored filters of R, G, and B on the same axis, a projection lens 6, and an active filter 15 which bends the light to an optional direction. A figure (a) shows an optical path when the thickness of the active filter 15 is uniform and the light travels straight. A figure (b) shows an optical path when the active filter 15 is thick at the lower part and thin at the upper part and the light is bent on the whole through the optical path. For operation, the active filter 15 is operated in synchronism with frame cycles of an image to bent the light vertically and horizontally and images corresponding to respective positions are display on a display element in synchronism with the light bending operation. |
