Method and apparatus for preserving steel sections

A method is sought along with the associated apparatus for preserving steel sections, whereby a continuous and environmentally friendly production can take place while avoiding great transporting distances and by using highly efficient, cost-effective practices. As far as the method is concerned, the solution resides in the fact that the steel sections (12) are lowered by means of a hoist from above into a large booth (1) integrated into the production flow and closed on all sides, are blasted and sprayed there, subsequently lifted out again and passed on to the further production. As apparatus, use is made of a large booth (1) which is closed on all sides, has a removably arranged roof and is arranged individually or in pairs around a common technical space (6), and equipment carriers for the blasting and spraying work which are installed in the large booth (1) and reach in any point inside it. The invention is especially applicable in shipbuilding for the preservation of completely finished ring, bow and other sections (12) as well as the superstructures. <IMAGE>
