In the case of a filling element for pouring a liquid filling material into bottles or similar containers, in the case of which the container in question is pressed, at least during filling, in order to establish a sealing layer, so that the filling element rests against a container installation which encloses a filling element shaft, on the underside of the filling element or below the said filling element there is provided at least one sterilising agent outlet aperture for a hot sterilising agent, and is in fact radially offset with respect to the container installation with regard to the filling element shaft. The said aperture is connected, via an uncontrolled sterilising agent connection, to a sterilising agent source.
